Game Jams

Game jams are short events where game designers of any experience level and expertise work in teams to make a game with the given theme. UGD game jams typically last for eight hours and take place in the MADD center. They’re a great way to make cool games with cool people, and there’s no pressure or large time commitment, so be sure to sign up if you’re interested.

Past Game Jams
Spring 2022 Board Game Jam (4/10/2022)
The 2022 spring quarter game jam was focused on analog games, and participants were asked to create a game with the theme “Spring,” fittingly enough. After being given their theme and a variety of supplies, including metal springs of different sizes, teams eagerly set to making their games. After several phases of designing, rapid prototyping, and playtesting, teams were offered the chance to laser-print pieces for their games and even have their games professionally printed by the Game Crafter. With a record 56 participants and phrases like “Frog Time-Lord” and “aggressive gardening” flying across tables, this game jam was one to remember.
