Welcome to UChicago Game Design!

Who are we?

UChicago Game Design is the University of Chicago’s home for discussing, learning, and practicing game design.

We invite creative minds across campus to engage with theoretical and practical game design principles, with events ranging from critical analyses to focused design workshops to solo and collaborative development opportunities.

Our members work in teams throughout the year in order to create their own games, which are pitched and organized by students. In these projects, we strive to cover a diverse range of design areas and to accommodate every creator, from writers and musicians to graphic artists and programmers.

We host weekly meetings every Monday 7-9pm in the Weston Game Lab Studio in the John Crerar Library. Meeting topics range from game design talks by industry professionals to pixel art tutorials from student artists. We also host quarterly game jams in which participants make a game in 8 hours centered around a theme.

We communicate primarily via Discord, which can be joined here!
